There is a playdate for incoming kindergartners on Sunday, July 12, at Greenwood Park from 2 to 4pm. We will have popsicles and ice cream sandwiches!

Enjoy spending some quality time mingling with other Daniel Bagley students and families!

All friends and family are welcome. Bring a donation for the greenwood food bank. There will be music, art, games for the kids, and apples for all!

In addition to Laural, Principal Erika Ayer will attend the 8/24 playdate.

So, what is next? What can you expect at a playdate on the playground?

When you arrive at the school, you might notice the gate appears to be locked. Never fear, as you face the playground, the gate to your left is open! Come on in, play for about 45 min and don't worry if you can't remember anyone's name. Ask questions; no question too big or too small. Last week's topics included:

If you have an incoming Kindergartner or are new to Daniel Bagley Elementary, please join us for summer playdates at the Bagley playground to meet other families and make new connections.  

These are informal gatherings, but we will have current parents available to help answer any questions you may have as the new school year approaches.

Playdates, portables, and websites

First, don't forget to check the blog for answers to all your 'new Bagley family' questions - most of the posts from last summer are still relevant.  Search by the labels on the sidebar.  There is info on lunches, recess, afterschool activities, the PTA, class sizes, curriculum night, and much, much more.

Websites:  You might have noticed that we have two websites - the PTA one (danielbagley.com) and the brand new SPS one (bagleyes.seattleschools.org).  Volunteers are hard at work transitioning to the SPS site, but meanwhile, you will probably notice some outdated information, or might have some trouble navigating to the pages you want.  For now, your best sources of information about Bagley are probably:

New Family Playdates on Sundays in August

Don't forget about the new family playdates, every Sunday in August at 3pm at the Bagley playground.  Current and new families are welcome to attend.

Meet your future classmates... although we won't know our actual classroom assignments for another few weeks.

Greenwood parade: Wednesday, July 25 

- Bagley Bees walk in the parade every year!  Meet in the parking at 95th & Greenwood (by the Salvation Army) at 5:30 - start marching at 6:00pm.  Wear Bagley shirts, or black & yellow, and bring your bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers (for siblings), and helmets.  Meet your new schoolmates... and the Seafair pirates

Kindergarten play dates: every Sunday in August at 3:00pm and one evening August 29, 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Bit and bites from this morning's playdate (waitlist, teachers, after-school classes, etc.)

Thank you to all the families who came out to our New Family playdates!  It was wonderful to see all the new (and older) students making friends over the last two weekends.  We estimate that there were about 25 families who came out today, and about 25 last weekend as well.  That's a pretty good representation of the new Bees.

Here are a few thoughts on some of the items that came up this morning:

Seriously, let me know!  What interests you?  I'm trying to remember what it was like to be a kindergarten parent last summer, and then jotting down ideas as they occur to me.  If there is something that you don't understand, please use the form at the side, or just email: lexyrelph at gmail dot com.

New family social before Welcome Night, Sept. 6, 5:30-6:30

Pack a picnic for dinner, bring a picnic blanket, and join your fellow Bagley kindergarten families on the Bagley front lawn and playground, right before Welcome Night! You will have a chance to talk to the other parents in your child's class (you won't know your teacher assignment in time for the other playdates) and your new Bee will relish the opportunity to give the play structures a test drive, while meeting their classmates.

PTA reps will be there to answer questions, and we'll have Popsicles for the kids as an extra treat towards the end. Get a sneak peek at the soon-to-be Greenfield!

Once the Welcome Night agenda kicks off at 6:30, there won't be much time for chit-chat, so this is a great way to connect with other parents (think: future carpools and playdates) before school starts. At Welcome Night, you will meet your teacher, the principal and the PTA, tour the main areas of the school, and recieve valuable information, all before the evening program closes at 7:15.

P.S. We don't really have a backup rain option, so keep your fingers crossed for sun...

New Family Playdates - August 20 & 27, 10:30-12, Greenwood Park

Daniel Bagley Playground Play Dates!

On Saturdays August 20 and August 27, the Daniel Bagley PTA will be hosting get-togethers at Greenwood Park (602 N 87th St.) from 10:30 am–noon.

(Normally we would host these play dates at Daniel Bagley, but during the summer of 2011, our playground will be closed for a major renovation. For more information about this exciting project, visit www.danielbagley.com/green-field-project.htm. Not to worry, the playground will be re-opened in time for the 2011–12 school year.)

These play dates will give your incoming Bagley Bee a chance to meet some other children who will be entering the school. There will be a PTA representative and/or a current Daniel Bagley kindergarten parent hosting each Saturday morning, who will be happy to answer your questions.

Look for yellow balloons to spot a Bagley Bee parent.
